Short Term Solution Oriented Brief Therapy
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a short-term goal-focused evidence-based therapeutic approach, which incorporates positive psychology principles and practices, and which helps clients change by constructing solutions rather than focusing on problems.
Why solution focused therapy?
Solution focused therapy is a future-oriented, goal-directed approach to solving human problems of living. The focus is on the client’s health rather than the problem, on strengths rather than weaknesses or deficits, and on skills, resources and coping abilities that would help in reaching future goals
What is solution based brief therapy ideal for?
When used SFBT can stand alone as a therapeutic intervention, or it can be used along with other therapy styles and treatments. It is used to treat people of all ages and a variety of issues, including child behavioral problems, family dysfunction, domestic or child abuse, addiction, and relationship problems.
What are the three rules of solution focused treatment?
- Change is constant and certain
- Emphasis should be on what is changeable and possible
- Clients must want to change
- Clients are the experts in therapy and must develop their own goals
- Clients already have the resources and strengths to solve their problems

ASD - AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER
What is Autism Spectrum Disorder?
Autism Spectrum Disorder, or autism, is a neuro-developmental disorder that impacts brain development. The result is that most individuals experience communication problems, difficulty with social interactions and a tendency to repeat specific patterns of behavior. They may also have a markedly restricted range of activities and interests.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is typically accompanied by co-occurring medical conditions. Mental health issues such as anxiety and depression are common. Any of these conditions may severely impact an individual’s quality of life.
The term “spectrum” refers to a range or continuum of severity or of developmental impairment. Children and adults with ASDs may have particular characteristics in common but the condition covers a wide spectrum, with individual differences in the following:
- Number and particular kinds of symptoms
- Severity: Mild to severe
- Age of onset
- Levels of functioning
- Challenges with social interactions.
It is important to keep in mind that children, teens and adults with autism vary widely in their needs, skills and abilities. There is no standard “type” or “typical” person with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Undiagnosed ASD
With 25 year in practice, our awareness into Adult Autism has been heightened by an increased population of undiagnosed ASD in adult women and men. Our expertise in ASD allows us to work with our clients and couples to identify certain behaviors that have been misunderstood for years.
The first step to healing and accepting oneself is to understand that these behaviors can be related to an undiagnosed mental health of ASD and can be further diagnosed through a professional evaluation and supported and followed by our in house professionals.
